AI Empowered Media Literacy & Critical Thinking (PD)
In the digital age, media literacy and critical thinking are essential for navigating the vast information landscape. Media literacy enables individuals to critically engage with media content and understand its influence. Critical thinking involves skillfully analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information to guide belief and action. In this course, participants will learn to: Access and critically evaluate different types of media sources. Analyze the influence of media messages on thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Apply rational, skeptical, and unbiased analysis to evaluate information. Utilize AI tools to enhance media analysis and critical thinking processes. The primary objective of this course is to empower educators with the knowledge and tools to foster these essential skills in their students, leveraging AI to create dynamic and engaging learning experiences. Participants will explore the integration of AI in analyzing media literacy, understanding biases, and enhancing critical thinking, preparing them to guide students in becoming informed and critical consumers of media.
AI Empowered Project Based Learning (PD)
This course introduces educators to the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Project-Based Learning (PBL) methodologies. Participants will learn to leverage AI tools to enhance student engagement, facilitate personalized learning experiences, and improve project outcomes. Combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications, this course equips educators with the skills and mindset to amplify PBL experiences with AI effectively in their classrooms, fostering a dynamic, student-centered learning environment. Participants will learn to apply AI in creating immersive real-world connections, design environments that empower students to become self-directed learners, and implement reflective practices using AI as a thought partner. By developing strategies for showcasing learning and planning for future trends, educators will connect best practices and prepare their learners for success in a rapidly evolving world.
AI Empowered STEM Instruction (PD)
Welcome to STEM Learning Enhanced with AI, designed to empower educators with the knowledge and tools to integrate artificial intelligence into STEM teaching practices. This 8-module course offers a comprehensive approach to AI-supported learning, guiding educators through frameworks, strategies, and hands-on applications that bring STEM topics to life in the classroom. Each module focuses on a key STEM framework or approach, from inquiry-based and project-based learning to the engineering design process and data-driven experimental methods. Participants will explore how AI can drive deeper learning and offer practical ways to apply these frameworks in authentic classroom settings. Each module culminates with an activity, allowing educators to synthesize and apply new skills. The course wraps up with a capstone project, where educators will demonstrate their understanding by creating a cohesive AI-enhanced STEM project that reflects the knowledge gained across all modules. Join us as we embark on this journey to create more dynamic, engaging, and future-focused STEM classrooms through the power of AI.
AI Empowered Social Emotional Learning (PD)
This course empowers educators to understand and apply SEL practices with AI support, promoting emotional intelligence, empathy, resilience, and community in classrooms and schools. Through eight modules, educators explore the core SEL competencies with practical AI tools to enhance the social and emotional development of learners and educators. Each module culminates in a significant activity that synthesizes learning, and the final capstone project integrates the entire course’s knowledge. Building on this foundation, the course begins by introducing the fundamentals of SEL and demonstrates how AI can enrich each competency—from self-awareness and self-management to social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Participants engage with hands-on AI activities (such as AI-assisted journaling, role-playing simulations, and data analysis prompts) that supplement existing teaching strategies and preserve the educator’s role at the forefront. Subsequent modules address inclusive practices, data ethics, and creating equitable learning environments by customizing AI-assisted tools for diverse learner needs. Educators learn to align SEL and AI goals with broader school objectives, refining strategies through a continuous improvement lens that includes monitoring, reflection, and timely adjustments. By the end of the course, participants have a cohesive framework to implement SEL schoolwide, enhanced by meaningful AI integration. The capstone project synthesizes all module concepts into a comprehensive SEL plan, equipping educators with a sustainable approach to supporting emotional intelligence, empathy, and resilience in their classrooms and communities.
Addressing Literacy Gaps in Adolescent Literacy (PD)
As reading and writing demands become more complex, gaps in adolescents’ foundational literacy skills can limit their ability to engage successfully with grade-level learning. This course prepares educators to address these gaps through systematic, cumulative, and explicit instruction embedded in reading and writing lessons. Participants will learn practical approaches for supporting students with varying skill levels and addressing foundational needs that affect comprehension, syntax, vocabulary, grammar, and writing. Participants will also learn to use quick diagnostic screeners to identify individual literacy needs and use that information to tailor instruction. The course provides ready-to-use strategies, lesson plans, modification ideas, and accommodations that educators can apply to make instruction more accessible and support meaningful progress in reading and writing. By integrating explicit instruction with targeted assessment, educators will be better prepared to address literacy gaps and strengthen students’ academic skills and confidence.
